Bao'an is a large district of Shenzhen in southern China, with a population of about 4.5 million. It keeps the nationwide Asia/Shanghai standard at UTC+8, applied throughout China with no daylight saving, so local clocks run eight hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time year-round. The district lies on the Pearl river estuary near 22.6°N, 113.9°E, adjoining the border with Hong Kong. Its scale reflects the dense urbanisation of the Pearl River Delta, one of the country's most populous regions.
