Giza sits on the west bank of the Nile opposite Cairo, with a population of around 4.4 million. It keeps the Africa/Cairo time zone at a standard offset of UTC+2; Egypt reinstated daylight saving in 2023, advancing clocks to UTC+3 during the summer. The city stands near 30.0°N, 31.2°E, within the greater Cairo urban area. As one of Egypt's largest cities in its own right, Giza forms part of the country's most populous metropolitan region.
