A city of roughly 5.4 million in northwestern Russia, Saint Petersburg stands on the Baltic coast at about 59.9°N, 30.3°E, one of the most northerly of the world's large cities. It keeps Moscow Time through the Europe/Moscow zone at UTC+3; Russia abolished seasonal daylight saving in 2014, so the offset now holds steady throughout the year and local clocks stay three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Founded as a former imperial capital, it ranks today as the country's second-largest city.
