La déviation progressive d'une horloge informatique par rapport à l'heure exacte due à l'imperfection de la fréquence de l'oscillateur. Toutes les horloges matérielles dérivent ; NTP corrige cela en se synchronisant périodiquement avec des serveurs de temps de référence.
