Der der Sonne nächste Punkt in der elliptischen Erdumlaufbahn, der jedes Jahr um den 3.-4. Januar eintritt. Im Perihel ist die Erde etwa 147,1 Millionen km von der Sonne entfernt – rund 3% näher als im Aphel.
