Overview
Delhi, in northern India near 29 degrees north latitude, is one of the country's most populous cities, with about 11 million residents in the city proper. It runs on India Standard Time at UTC+5:30, a single half-hour offset used nationwide, and observes no daylight saving; local clocks stay five and a half hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time through every season. The fractional offset sets India apart from most of the world, which uses whole-hour bands. Situated in the Northern Hemisphere, Delhi experiences distinct seasons, yet its clock relationship to other regions remains constant across the calendar.
