Xiamen is a coastal city in southeastern China, with a population of about 4.6 million. It keeps the country's single official standard, the Asia/Shanghai zone at UTC+8, maintained nationwide with no daylight saving, so local time holds eight hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time year-round. The city occupies an island and adjoining mainland on the Taiwan Strait near 24.5°N, 118.1°E in Fujian province.
