Sydney, the most populous city in Australia, is home to around 5.6 million people. It follows the Australia/Sydney time zone, whose standard offset is UTC+10; because the state of New South Wales observes daylight saving time, clocks advance to UTC+11 during the Southern Hemisphere summer, roughly from October to April. The city sits on the southeastern Pacific coast near 33.9°S, 151.2°E. Though the national capital is Canberra, Sydney is the country's largest urban centre and a major hub of commerce and population.
