About

FAQ

What is UTC?
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks. It is the successor to GMT and does not observe daylight saving time.
How does daylight saving time (DST) affect conversions?
This tool automatically accounts for DST using the IANA timezone database built into your browser. The offset shown reflects the current DST status of each zone.
Why are some time zones offset by 30 or 45 minutes?
Several countries use non-standard offsets. India (UTC+5:30), Nepal (UTC+5:45), and the Chatham Islands (UTC+12:45) are examples of zones with fractional hour offsets.
What are military time zones?
NATO uses letter designations for time zones: Z (Zulu) for UTC, A through M for east, and N through Y for west. Alpha is UTC+1, Bravo UTC+2, etc.
Does this account for DST automatically?
Yes. The converter uses the browser's Intl.DateTimeFormat API, which includes the full IANA timezone database with all historical and current DST rules.
