As the capital of Mexico, Mexico City anchors a metropolitan population of about 12.3 million on a high plateau near 19 degrees north latitude. It observes Central Standard Time at UTC-6, and following the end of nationwide daylight saving the city no longer changes its clocks seasonally, keeping local time six hours behind Coordinated Universal Time throughout the year.
