Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh and one of the most densely populated cities in the world, with around 10.4 million residents near 24 degrees north latitude. It observes Bangladesh Standard Time at UTC+6 and does not adjust its clocks for daylight saving, keeping local time six hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time in all seasons. Situated in the Northern Hemisphere just below the Tropic of Cancer, the city sees only modest seasonal variation in day length. Its fixed offset holds the difference to other regions constant across the year, placing Bangladesh on a whole-hour band between the Indian and Southeast Asian time zones.
